About Rokin Research

Rokin Research is an early-stage investment research platform named after the historic Rokin in Amsterdam, reflecting its connection to a city with a longstanding tradition of commerce, finance and international exchange.

Our research examines how economic, technological, political and structural changes reshape markets, industries and businesses. We combine economic analysis, market research and investment insight to investigate where change is occurring, why it matters, and what opportunities or risks it creates for investors and businesses.

Our work is designed to support investment firms and other organisations seeking to make better-informed decisions.

As a growing platform, Rokin Research offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of our research, analytical processes and publications.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Research Analyst Intern to join Rokin Research remotely for an initial three-month placement.

This role offers hands-on exposure to investment and economic research, including industry analysis, market developments, quantitative modelling, data evaluation and research publication.

A central part of the position involves independently verifying research findings, reviewing quantitative models and critically assessing the assumptions underlying economic and investment analysis.

You will work directly with research leadership, receive structured feedback and gain practical experience with professional research methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research into economic, industry and market developments.

  • Investigate primary sources and independently verify research findings, statistics and citations.

  • Review spreadsheets, analytical models and their underlying assumptions.

  • Critically evaluate research conclusions, identify inconsistencies and highlight areas requiring further investigation.

  • Synthesise findings into clear research notes, reports and supporting materials.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of research frameworks and analytical processes.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a university degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related field. Applicants from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply, particularly those with strong analytical skills and an interest in economic and investment research.

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.

  • Good understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods.

  • Proficiency with spreadsheets; familiarity with statistical analysis or programming is an advantage.

  • Strong written and spoken English.

  • Interest in economics, investment research, financial markets and structural change.

  • Ability to work independently, manage responsibilities and meet agreed deadlines.

  • Intellectual curiosity, reliability and a willingness to learn.

Previous professional research experience is welcome but not required.

Benefits & Professional Development
  • Meaningful research experience: Contribute to substantive research projects with real-world business and investment applications.

  • Direct mentorship: Receive guidance, structured feedback and exposure to the research and publication process.

  • Early-stage responsibility: Gain practical experience in a growing organisation where your contributions can make a visible difference.

  • Professional development: Access language-learning support through Preply, subject to availability and an agreed learning allowance.

  • Flexible remote participation: Work remotely around agreed research commitments and academic responsibilities.

  • Research portfolio: Opportunities to contribute to published research, subject to editorial review.

  • Future opportunities: Strong-performing interns may be considered for paid research positions or projects following the initial placement, subject to business needs and available funding.
